- A quick note about the American Bonanza Society.
Barely into the second week of May, 2010, and I have already fielded a few phone calls concerning our (lack of) display advertising in the ABS magazine. Please make no inferences from this. The ABS is an outstanding organization; we had creative differences with the company that prints the magazine. This change will allow us to continue to support the ABS / ASF (Air Safety Foundation) to the point where funds go directly into where it is needed and not be 'filtered' by a third party. Besides, we still run a classified ad... - We have a new address.
No, we haven't moved, the County and Post Office wanted to keep us on our toes, so they changed all the addresses on the airport. Our phone, fax and e-mail are staying the same. The new address is: 10416 172nd St. E., Unit B Puyallup, WA 98374. - Dale Sanderson has a new title.
Congratulations to Dale, our sheet metal specialist. Recently, Dale tested for his Inspection Authorization (IA) and turned in a very respectable score, indeed! This is most welcome by Mike, and will help the team to continue their efforts to serve you better. - Thinking about a get-a-way to the San Juans?
We recommend Island Air as the easiest way to get out there. Offering on-demand charter (Part 135), they operate a fleet of Cessna's including several 172's, 206's, and a 207. Although they have their own A&P technician on staff, AVSTAR has worked a few of the more complex projects on some of their aircraft; and you may see their aircraft around our shop a little bit more. Mike was named their Director of Maintenance on January 1, 2009. - New product now offered at AVSTAR! MTN View Aviation of Hubbard, OR, has received FAA-STC approval of their Door Steward for the Beech 33, 35, 36, 55, 56, 58 (unpressurized), and 95 series aircraft. This unit is a vast improvement over the factory door stop. We have already installed two of these units, and they work great! List price for the Beech models listed is $210.00. ABS and AOPA members get a 5% discount. We have the Beech kits in stock, so drop a hint to your flying partner for a stocking-stuffer this year. Mtn View Aviation started this product for the Cessna's, and most single engine models are approved. Call AVSTAR for a brochure, or view them on-line at www.mtnviewaviation.com.
